Canoga Park, CA — Walter Benesch, a name that resonates with depth, curiosity, and a life lived with unwavering conviction, is not just an author but a storyteller of the soul. Through his two compelling memoirs, "It's Me, The Early Years: Letters to my daughter” and "It's Me from the Big Apple to Beantown" Benesch invites readers on an intimate journey through the many chapters of his extraordinary life. These books, both written in the form of heartfelt letters to his daughter, offer a rare glimpse into a multifaceted existence shaped by diverse experiences, from the gritty streets of New York City.

Born in New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital and raised in Connecticut, the books are filled with stories of his mother's extraordinary life. We learn about her adventures, from dating John Carradine in Hollywood to her involvement with an advanced meditation school in New York City. She even created a special landing pattern in a field, hoping to attract something from another world. The plan worked, but she missed the chance to greet them. Her husband, Walter's father, was so terrified by what he saw that he refused to talk about it for the rest of his life.

Walter Benesch's academic and professional life is as varied as it is remarkable. He earned his M.A. in Anthropology from The New School, where he studied under influential figures like Ralph Holloway and Michael Harner. His early career saw him engaged in social work in Harlem and the South Bronx, a period that undoubtedly informed his deep understanding of human nature. One of the most unique and unforgettable experiences of this time was his role as a foster caregiver to Nim Chimpsky, the famous chimpanzee at the center of a groundbreaking sign language experiment at Columbia University. This remarkable layer of his life speaks to his innate capacity for connection and empathy, transcending the boundaries of species.

Beyond his professional achievements, Benesch is a deeply committed individual in his personal pursuits.

An active Freemason, he has been accorded high honors and is a frequent lecturer, with many of his talks accessible to a wide audience on YouTube via Sapere Aude. This passion for knowledge and sharing wisdom is a recurring theme throughout his life and work.

"No life is so unworthy as to be ignored.... If you take time to explore their life story, you may find out interesting things...No matter what, lessons can always be learned from what can be shared." — Walter Benesch.

"It's Me, The Early Years: Letters to my daughter"

In the second edition of "It's Me, The Early Years," Benesch undertakes an emotional excavation of his life's beginnings. This memoir is not just a recounting of events; it is a raw and vulnerable exploration of the formative moments that shaped his identity and beliefs.

"It's Me from the Big Apple to Beantown"

This captivating and soul-stirring memoir serves as the first volume of Benesch’s letter collection. It chronicles his journey from the vibrant streets of 1970s New York City to the academic landscape of Boston.
